Laurel of Life was born from years of friendship, shared motherhood, a deep love for birth, and a belief that every woman deserves education that honors her voice.
What began as a dream between two best friends has become more meaningful than we could have imagined. Our story began when we were 18 years old, fresh out of high school and preparing to leave on a nine-month mission trip together. We traveled the world, shared the gospel, experienced more than we could have imagined, and somewhere along the way became best friends.
Even then, we had big dreams for our lives. We used to joke that one day we would live down the street from each other and raise our babies together. All these years later, that is exactly what we are doing. We live in the same neighborhood, just down the road from each other, raising our children side by side like those 18-year-old girls hoped we would.
Our friendship grew alongside our love for pregnancy, birth, babies, and motherhood. We have supported one another through our own births, walked side by side through pregnancy and postpartum, and spent countless hours talking about the questions, choices, beauty, and complexity that come with bringing a baby into the world.
For nearly three years, we talked, dreamed, and prayed about creating something together in the birth space. We knew we wanted to combine our passions and serve women, but it took time for the vision to become clear.
Eventually, we realized that what we love most is education, empowerment, and walking alongside women through the entire journey. We want mothers to understand what is happening in their bodies, know that birth is not one-size-fits-all, and feel confident exploring their options. We want to help families prepare intentionally for birth and step into postpartum feeling supported, not as though it is something they simply have to survive.
What began as a friendship between two 18-year-olds dreaming about life down the street from one another has become more meaningful than we could have imagined. Today, we get to do what we love together while helping women feel informed, prepared, and confident as they enter motherhood.
And honestly? We think those two girls would be pretty proud of where we ended up.

Hi, I'm Shelbie! I'm a 30-year-old mama to three little ones, all four and under, and I have been married to my best friend for nine years. I am originally from Georgia, but somewhere along the way I became a full-blown Texas wannabe. I love Austin, slow mornings with a good cup of coffee, cooking from scratch, time with my family, and pretending I am a homesteader while trying to keep a garden alive.
At the center of my life is my faith. Jesus is King of my heart, and I want to walk in obedience to Him in the way I mother, serve my family, and support women through this business. One belief I hold close is that it is an honor to be exhausted in obedience to the Lord. In this full and beautiful season, that truth means more to me than ever.
My love for birth began during my first pregnancy. At the time, I assumed I would go to the hospital, have a baby, and come home. Then I began learning about birth and discovered just how many choices existed. I was the first of my friends to become pregnant, so I could not simply look to the women around me for answers. I researched, asked questions, and worked to understand what felt right for me.
That process opened a world I did not know existed, and I fell head over heels for it. I ultimately chose a home birth for my first baby, and all three of my children have since been born at home. Through my own experiences, I have developed a deep love and respect for birth in all its forms.
What lights a fire in me now is helping other mothers discover how many options they have, understand what those choices mean, and remember that they get to be active participants in their own experience. If it feels like we would be friends in real life, I would love the chance to get to know you, too.

Hi, I'm Taylor! I'm a 29-year-old mom to a 3-year-old and twin 2-year-olds, so life is never boring over here. My husband and I recently celebrated five years of marriage, and he truly is the steady foundation of our family.
Above all, my love for the Lord is at the center of who I am. I love Jesus with everything in me, and I know I would not be where I am today without Him. I believe He gave me this deep love for pregnancy, birth, and motherhood, and I feel incredibly grateful that I get to use it to walk alongside and encourage other women.
When I am not talking about birth, you can usually find me with family and friends. I love my people fiercely, and I am deeply grateful for the community around us. I love cooking, baking, and just about anything that keeps me in the kitchen. Iced coffee is the way to my heart, and as a Texas girl, summer will always be my favorite. Give me sunshine, a pool, and a tan, and I am happy.
My love for motherhood reaches as far back as I can remember. When my younger sister was born, my maternal instincts immediately kicked in. From then on, I knew I wanted to be a mother and have all the babies. I even told my husband on one of our very first dates that I hoped to have my babies at home one day.
After welcoming my first baby in a hospital, giving birth to my twins at home, and witnessing other women give birth, my passion grew like wildfire. I saw how different birth can feel when a woman understands her options, feels supported, and knows she has a voice in decisions about her care.
That is when I knew I wanted to help other women experience the same sense of confidence and ownership as they step into motherhood. It is an honor to sit with each mother, answer her questions, and help her prepare for a birth that feels informed and intentional.
